Argentina is the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world, in land area. Also known for being the third largest economy in Latin America, it is the eighth largest country in the world in terms of land mass. The name is from the Spanish word for silver, of which there are considerable deposits of to be found here.

Argentina's earliest settlers were found in Patagonia and the Incas arrived in 1480 as the first conquering horde. The next wave of conquerors were the Spanish conquistadors in the early 1500's, claiming the land and establishing Buenos Aires as capitol.

The Argentine War of Independence of 1811 is when the struggle towards a modern-day deomocracy began, thru the terrifying years of Juan and Eva Peron, the so-called Dirty War, and the Flaklands War. History took many ugly turns during this time, but finally resulted in the relatively stable era of peace and prosperity to be found now under the rule of Néstor Kirchner and his wife and successor, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, present-day President of Argentina.

Argentina's 23 provinces spread over an area of over 1 million square miles, and range from spectacular coastlines from Tierra del Fuego to amazing mountain ranges and the famed Pampas grasslands. There is so much to explore here, and many economic opportunities abound.
