This new vegetarian place on the Spuistraat serves up soups, wraps, tofu burgers, stir frys, and other veggie specialties. The place is delightfully smoke free, and there's a nice loft or you can sit at an outside table if available.
I ordered the cream of potato soup which wasn't all that creamy, and had a strange flavor. My friends veggie soup with brocolli and carrots was tastier, but nothing special. My tofu buger on a whole wheat bun was delicious but definitely mushy, but required some careful handling to avoid spilling all over. My friend's wrap was good but unsubstantial.
The bill with two teas (they do have a nice selection of beverages), came to 21 euros, and lots of intestinal agony afterwards (gas is inevitable when you go vegetarian it seems).
Green Planet offers meals from 11 am until midnight, daily except Sundays. They also do takeaways and have a bar.

Posted by Anonymous on 2005-05-07 21:30:46 My Score: I adore this place! My husband and I even had our wedding reception there, which consisted mainly of meat eaters. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We've been there several times and just keep going back...
Posted by Anonymous on 2004-11-13 01:13:30 My Score: The place is nice and so is the people working there, but at least the night I was there I think the food was not good at all. The risotto was more like porrage.

Lots of choice on the menu.
I had the most expensive main course on the menu at 15 Euros - which is expensive or cheap depending how fat your wallet is!
Just one thought - It would have been nice to have slightly longer between finishing the starter and the main course arriving.

wine list very good. amazing selection of teas. the non-smoking at the back means if one wants a cigarette, one sits by the bar at the front: a sweet way to meet the staff and other customers...

Posted by Whitey on 2002-09-30 11:37:52 My Score: We popped in the other day for lunch and were amazed by the interesting choice of meals and drinks (being a vegetarian used to a choice of pasta or pasta in other restaurants). We ordered the smoked/chargrilled burgers and they were really nice. Service was polite/prompt. What more can I say ?
