Fondacion Cartier

The Fondacion Cartier was created in 1984 as a showcase for international artists.

According to their website, the Fondacion Cartier has been committed to building up a collection of works by living artists as a reflection of the age in which we live and of the conflicting currents, singular approaches and highly individualised figures that underlie the eclecticism and diversity of the art of today.

This includes exhibits of international artists in the Paris display space, as well as travelling multimedia experiences.

The Fondation Cartier collection consists of works reflecting contemporary art since the 1960's. The collection is filled with work by (Arman, César, Hains and Raynaud), also younger artists from the scene in France Alberola, Blais, Couturier, Sorin and Tosani) and abroad (Miquel Barceló, Matthew Barney, David Hammons, Tatsuo Miyajima, Gabriel Orozco and Hiroshi Sugimoto).

Cartier offers a collection of experimental paintings by Vija Celmins, Sam Francis, Simon Hantaï and Joni Mitchell; multimedia and other types of art with sensory spaces by James Turrell and installations by James Lee Byars.

The Fondation Cartier offers all forms of art, and is a must see while in Paris whether you are a student, established artist, or just an appreciator of fine art and haute couture.
