New York Pizza

A chain of NINE shops now. Once upon a time this was a refuge where you could find a decent slice of pizza in Amsterdam. Unfortunately like many Dutch establishments, they keep pizza in display cases, sometimes for hours before you happen to come along. Yes, they reheat it, and it can be a decent bite if you’re desperate. But why settle for something that’s been sitting out for who knows how long, when you can get it fresh and hot (and much better) in almost any Italian restaurant in Amsterdam for just a few guilders more.

Who am I to criticize? Only a native New Yawker (or as I call it, “New Amsterdam”), who knows good pizza when I see it and especially when I taste it! So any place that’s going to call itself “New York Pizza” had better live up to the reputation, and unfortunately when it comes to freshness, this place just doesn’t measure up. Perhaps they should call it Heart Burn City Pizza.

  2. WORST PIZZA EVER!!! the only redeming quality is that they are open til 4 am on the weekends. they do not keep their pizzas at a safe holding temp for the hours it can sit waiting to be bought. do yourself a favor, go to the bakery nextdoor instead

  3. when visiting your restaurant i was expecting a good night out, but unfortunatly your service during my meal ruined the whole experience! Now, looking at other peoples reviews i can see that other people feel the same, so do yourself a favour and take care of your customers!?!

  4. The slices are a bit on the old side, but if you need some cheap chow to throw down your throat, you could do a lot worse than New York Pizza. Please don’t substitute food like this for a good meal at Bojo’s indonesian resturant! BEWARE: I noticed around A’dam that many bakeries & pastry shops have some type of hot dog or sausage wrapped in a crosaunt of puff pastery behind the case which is warmed up for you to eat on the go. AVOID this kind of fast food. I found myself with the worst case of lysteria food poisoning for almost 5 days straight & my family thought I was doing herion in Adam when I came home, from all the weight I lost..

  5. It took over an hour for it to arrive after I ordered, and was cold and tough.

I ordered a pepperoni and chicken wings, and there were only a few slices of pepperoni on the pizza. The chicken wings were also cold.

This was my first and last time ordering from them.

  6. The place was awful, especially the service was very rude. Me and my boyfriend were waiting in the line and when it was our turn the woman behind the bar took some men group who weren’t even in the line and they came after us. She said that the line was there where they were. So we left and decided not to go there.
I never eat in that crappy place again. I’ve been there once before and the pizza was cold and tough and I found black disgusting hair from the pizza!
I hope they close the place down and fire the people from there. It’s not clean place at all.
